Overview

What does the Sanitation Supervisor Do? 

The Sanitation Supervisor will lead the daily sanitation process of the manufacturing facility behind your favorite ice cream flavors. Your role on our Sanitation team will help us to ensure compliance of our Master Sanitation Schedule and continually propose and implement actions for improvement and risk mitigation including training and SSOP development. You will also support/ensure the production of a safe, high-quality product, conforming to standards and team member safety through the sanitation program in a cross-functional team setting. The regular work schedule is Monday-Friday evenings typically 3:00PM to 11:30PM. Some flexibility is required.

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 annual salary commensurate with experience and other qualifications. 

 

What you will do: 

  • Provide leadership and direction to sanitation team, housekeeping team and operations team members; ensure the team is using safe working practices including chemical handling, PPE requirements
  • Manage training and reinforce communication of team member safety, sanitation practices, good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and company policies/procedures.
  • Working closely with the sanitation team for a majority of the shift on the production floor
  • Lead and audit performance of visual inspection/post clean inspections of equipment and compliance of the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Verify/audit all Sanitation and facility cleaning equipment, operating safely and following up on any repairs or improvements required. 
  • Lead CIP Program (monitoring, schedule, training, SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) development, records, validations, and optimization)
  • Monitor the Pathogenic Environmental Monitoring Program utilizing a Seek and Destroy approach
  • Active participation in sanitation/change over continuous improvement efforts to reduce the planned downtime related to cleaning, changeover and set up of the lines. 
  • Maintain relationship with Chemical supplier and utilize their resources to improve the Perry’s Processes 
  • Accountable for inventory control of cleaning supplies and sanitation chemicals. Requisitions and distributes supplies and equipment; places orders as required  
  • Obtain/maintain HACCP certification
  • Coach and motivate team members to exceed expectations by communicating job performance standards and providing timely and consistent feedback 
  • Manage weekly team member schedules and submit accurate timekeeping records for payroll on a weekly basis 
  • Plan schedules and coordinate cleaning projects with Operations and Maintenance Teams
  • Provide supervisory support to the QA Lab Technicians as needed 

What you will bring to the team: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Dairy or Food Science, Business, or related field (i.e., Biological Sciences) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years. Experience in manufacturing/sanitation with leadership responsibility. Dairy industry experience preferred. (Combination of degree and experience will be considered)
  • Flexibility – While primary shift is Monday through Friday from 3pm - 11:30pm, work may be on any shift and weekends as needed 
  • Strong knowledge in food manufacturing CIP/COP cleaning and sanitation procedures including cleaning equipment in the dairy industry preferred
  • SQF or BRC experience preferred
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong Team skills – collaborative style working with all leaders and their teams cross-functionally in a positive and respectful manner
  • Detail oriented/focused
  • Objective, data-based problem analysis and resolution; orientation toward proactive performance improvement 
  • Ability to think out of the box to develop efficient processes and methods to improve department efficiencies. 
  • Willingness to learn and participate in all facets of food processing and storage associated with frozen dessert manufacturing 
  • Willingness to participate in travel including overnight travel for off-site training purposes
  • Good time management in planning work schedules to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, or equivalent software
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Other tasks as assigned
